On Friday night, the Roosevelt Eagles traveled to Stanton to take on the Buffaloes in a district matchup. The Eagles entered the game with a 3-1 record, coming off a dominating 50-18 victory over Brownfield, and aimed to continue their success against Stanton. As the second quarter unfolded, the Buffaloes struggled to contain the Eagles’ triple-option offense, which scored 21 unanswered points, leading 29-8 at halftime.
In the second half, both defenses returned fired up, shutting down their opponents and leaving the third quarter scoreless. The Eagles managed to outscore Stanton 7-6 in the fourth quarter, solidifying their road win with a final score of 36-14.
Next week, the Eagles will host Sundown, who is seeking their first win of the season at 0-4 after a recent 28-21 loss to New Deal. Stanton will also continue their season as they travel to take on Ballinger, who boasts a 3-1 record, coming off a 20-0 loss to Brady.
