Round Rock Improves to 2-0 in District Play
The Round Rock Dragons defeated the Stony Point Tigers 28-0 in a crosstown high school football rivalry game last Friday night. The Dragons’ offense drove 63 yards on their opening possession to take an early 7-0 lead. They added another touchdown in the first quarter following a Tigers fumble to go up 14-0.
The Dragons’ defense held strong all night, stopping multiple Tigers’ drives deep in their territory. The Tigers missed a field goal attempt before halftime. At the start of the second half, the Tigers drove to the Dragons’ 5-yard line but failed to score.
The Dragons then blocked a Tigers field goal attempt and returned it for a touchdown to extend their lead to 28-0. Though the Tigers’ defense prevented any more scoring, the damage was done. The Dragons ultimately prevailed with a 28-0 victory fueled by a dominant rushing attack and stifling defense.
The Round Rock Dragons improve to 2-3 and 2-0 in District 25-6A play. Next, they face the Manor Mustangs. Manor is coming off a 51-6 loss to the Vandegrift Vipers. The Stony Point Tigers, now 2-3 and 0-2 in District play, will next face the Round Rock Cedar Ridge Raiders. The Raiders are 2-3 and coming off a 41-0 loss to Westwood.
