Texas high school football keeps sending talent to the league, and Jordyn Tyson is the latest name added to that long list. The former Allen standout was selected No. 8 overall by the New Orleans Saints in the 2026 NFL Draft, making him one of the highest Texas products taken this year.

At Allen, Tyson looked like a future pro early. He brought size at 6-foot-2, speed, body control, and the kind of smooth athleticism that makes defensive backs nervous before the snap. He played at one of the biggest programs in the country and still found ways to stand out. Tyson finished his senior season with 80 catches for 1,512 yards and 12 touchdowns, numbers that helped confirm he was ready for the next level.

His college path took a few turns, but the talent never changed.

Tyson began at Colorado, where he made an immediate impact in 2022 with 22 catches for 470 yards and five touchdowns while leading the team in receiving yards. After that season, he transferred to Arizona State and eventually became one of the top receivers in the Big 12.

Over his final two seasons with the Sun Devils, Tyson became a true No. 1 target. He posted 1,812 receiving yards and 18 touchdowns across 2024 and 2025, earning First-Team All-Big 12 honors twice. In 2025 alone, he had 61 receptions for 711 yards and eight scores despite missing time.

Now he lands in New Orleans with real expectations.

The Saints needed another explosive weapon for young quarterback Tyler Shough, and Tyson fits that plan perfectly. He can stretch the field, win one-on-one matchups, and create yards after the catch. Pairing him with Chris Olave gives New Orleans a much more dangerous passing attack right away.

For Texas fans, Tyson’s rise feels familiar.

A big-time high school prospect, polished college playmaker, then a first-round selection. That pipeline keeps rolling. And if Tyson stays healthy, Allen may soon have another Sunday star to brag about.
