After two successful seasons as the head coach San Antonio Highlands, Juan Morales is heading to the Northside for a new opportunity. Morales was named the next head coach of San Antonio Holmes on Thursday. The move was first reported by Adam Zuvanich.
In his two seasons at Highlands, Morales compiled a 14-8 record which included two playoff appearances and a share of the District 28-5A title this past season. It was the first district title for the Owls since 1999.
Morales takes over a Holmes program that is on the upswing. After posting consecutive winless seasons in 2013 and 2014, the Huskies went 4-6 and 5-5 in 2015 and 2016 respectively. San Antonio Holmes has not made the playoffs since 2000, which is also the last time they’ve had a winning record.
On the task ahead, Morales told Zuvanich, “What I can do at Holmes is what I did at Highlands, which is get them to the next step.”
