Marshall Key Players and Storylines

Now, he’s back at Marshall after Tim Williams stepped down after 13 years.
He’s got a young group of players, but he says there has been new energy in the program in recent months.
Offensively, the strategy will be simple. Get the ball into the hands of Braylon Glover (622 rushing yards) early and often. He’s a home run threat with his breakaway speed. He’ll have fullback Elijah Williams to help pave the way as well as senior offensive lineman Angel Ortega leading in the trenches.

Defensively, defensive end Ahmaury Hamilton is relentless off the edge and will serve as a great first line of defense. However, Marshall’s biggest strength is on the back end. Strong safety Ryan Hayes doesn’t shy away from tackling, while free safety Jacob Marshall has great speed that allows him to “cover large portions of the field.”
Ortega has loved the work ethic he has seen from his players since he took over. That grit will be big as the Rams look to scrap their way up the standings, working towards snapping a now four-year playoff drought.
