The nephew of former NFL quarterbacks Koy and Ty Detmer will now be heading west at the next level. Somerset quarterback Zadock Dinkelmann announced his commitment to BYU on Twitter.

Dinkelmann was a highly-regarded quarterback prospect who had been committed to LSU from the eighth grade up until last January. The three-star quarterback (247 Sports) also held offers from Louisiana-Monroe and UTSA.
Dinkelmann becomes the twelfth commit in the Class of 2018 for the Cougars and the second Texas commit this month. Katy running back Josh Oglesby announced his commitment to BYU back on May 11.
As for Somerset, the District 15-4A Division I Newcomer of the Year will look to ride his team through another big season in 2017. The Bulldogs finished 10-3 last year and advanced to the regional semifinals of the Class 4A Division I playoffs in 2016.
