South Garland Key Players and Storylines

South Garland endured one of the toughest seasons in program history in 2025, finishing 0-9 and being outscored 442-43.

The good news? 2026 is a clean slate and the Titans have plenty of talent coming back.

It all starts offensively with the versatile Ike Johnson, who can play either quarterback or receiver. Whether he lines up behind center or out wide, he’s a player the Titans can build around. There’s no question about South Garland’s starting running back. Romeo White has earned the nickname “Speedy” for good reason. He was South Garland’s anchor in the 4X100.

In the passing attack, Xavier Madden earned an all-district honorable mention as a freshman last year while senior Marke Cobb will go both ways at receiver and cornerback.

Cobb was actually South Garland’s leader in interceptions a year ago. He’s joined by promising sophomore cornerback Damien Brown, who started for the Titans last fall. Up front, senior defensive end Javion Coffman was another all-district honorable mention a year ago. Expect him to play some tight end this season.

Head coach Antwaun Hobbs graduated from South Garland in 2003, right before the Titans started a streak of eight-straight playoff appearances, so he knows firsthand about what it’s like to build a sturdy foundation at this program. He’ll hope last year’s youth movement begins paying off this fall as the Titans look to take strides in competing with their District 9-6A competition.
