And just like that, Southlake Carroll booked yet another trip to the postseason.
Despite Northwest entering their stadium with an undefeated record, the Dragons dominated Texans, maintaining a perfect record and triumphing 48-7.
Overall, the Dragons out-gained the Texans 456 to 190 yards.
Southlake Carroll got on the board quickly, with Baylor commit Davis Penn finding the end zone on a 4-yard inside run at the 9:20 mark in the first quarter. The Dragons ended the first with a 64-yard strike to TCU commit Brock Boyd for a 64-yard score.
Northwest’s sole touchdown occurred at the start of the second quarter, finding the end zone only once with a two-yard touchdown from Kobey Wall on a direct snap. In response, Boyd hauled in a 44-yard passing touchdown.
Overall, Boyd finished the night with 135 yards on only four catches for a duo of scores.
The contest was pretty much in the bag by halftime, with Southlake Carroll up 28-7.
The Dragons bottled up the Texans for the rest of the contest.
Quarterback Angelo Renda scored two more times on a 31-yard toss to Blake Gunter and a 10-yard quarterback keeper. He finished the night 10-for-15 with 239 yards and three touchdowns, as well as 63 rushing yards and a score.
Southlake remains the favorite to win the District 4-6A title. They have two regular season remaining against Hurst L.D. Bell and Keller Central, before the bi-district round begins on November 14.
