Southlake Carroll Defeats Hebron 59-16

Tom Thumb - DFW's Grocer Since 1948

Southlake Carroll made an estimated 54 plays count. The series resulted in the Dragons embarking on a 52-0 run against Hebron, rolling over their non district opponent 59-16 at Brian Brazil Stadium.

In three quarters of play, quarterback Angelo Renda threw for 237 yards and two touchdowns. Running backs Riley Wormley (USC commit) and Davis Penn (Baylor commit) added a combined five touchdowns.

It didn’t start all that hot for the Dragons. Renda lost a fumble on his team’s very first offensive play, trailing the Hawks 6-0. The game seemed to be going in the direction of their last meeting, in which Southlake Carroll fell to Hebron.

However, the Dragons got the offense going with five consecutive touchdowns. Benefitting the offense was a young offensive line of underclassmen; the line allowed a sole sack. The defense accounted for six sacks, with Zac Hays and Jake Lucky claiming four between them.

The Dragons are 2-0 for the sixth time since 2018. They will play at home against Byron Nelson at 7 pm on Friday. Hebron will try and get back into the win column against Lancaster at 7:30 on Friday.
