If you’re a fan of low scoring defensive battles, this story is not for you.
The Friday night football game between the Eastland Mavericks and Panhandle Panthers was an offensive explosion. Panhandle was coming off a 62-22 game verse Stratford and was looking to improve on their 3-1 record when they faced Eastland. Eastland, who dropped their first three games of the season, was coming off a 78-54 win over McKinney Christian. With two teams that had put up 78 and 62 in their previous game, offense was expected. Offense is what we got.
Final Score: Eastland 91 – Panhandle 71
The two teams combined for 162 points, which is the fourth highest-scoring 11-man game in the state of Texas since 1951. Eastland was led by Texas Tech Red Raiders commit, Behren Morton.
