Allen’s dynasty was toppled last year. After winning three consecutive state championships, Allen lost to Austin Westlake in a Class 6A Division I state semifinal. Last season was the first time since 2010 that a team from the Dallas area didn’t win a state title in the UIL’s largest classification.
So which team should open the 2016 season ranked No. 1 in the state in 6A? Here’s a chance for you, the reader, to vote:
Allen: The second-longest winning streak in state history ended at 57 games last year when Allen lost to Westlake. Terry Gambill replaces Tom Westerberg as the head coach.
