There is an undefeated 6A team that has flown under the radar this year, despite going 10-2 last year. Texas high school football fans, we introduce you to this year’s Tomball Memorial Wildcats.
The Wildcats moved to 6A in 2018. When most teams make that jump, you can expect a few down years in terms of a team’s record, but they went 8-3. They followed it up with a 10-2 season last year. They currently sit at 8-0, 5-0 in District 15-6A, with one regular-season district game to go.
The Wildcats stayed unbeaten by beating Klein Collins, 49-48 in overtime last night. They overcame an 8 point fourth-quarter deficit and managed to get the one point win thanks to a late goal-line stop. They are no strangers to high scoring close games as they beat Beaumont West Brook, 66-63, earlier in the year, and gave Klein Cain their only district loss in a 64-49 shootout.
Their star quarterback, Colton Marwill, was hurt midseason, but he is back and the offense is rolling. The Wildcats are averaging 55 points per game, and with their defense showing that they can get a big stop when they need to, this team might make some noise in the 6A Region II playoffs.
