The Walter Payton Man of the Year recognizes a player for his good work both on and off the field. Watt is being recognized for his relief efforts after the flooding that affected the Greater Houston Area due to Hurricane Harvey.
Watt ended up raising more than $37 million to help people in devastated areas.
Humbled & honored to even be mentioned in the same breath as Walter Payton. Also happy to share the nomination with @BenjaminSWatson and @gregolsen88 who are both extremely deserving. This is so much bigger than just one man. It’s about the good in all of humanity.

Carolina Panthers tight end Greg Olsen and Baltimore Ravens tight end Benjamin Watson were each named as finalists for the award. The winner will be announced during the NFL Honors in Minneapolis on Feb. 3.
