The Raiders of Denton Ryan high school have been one of the more successful programs in Texas during the last 4 years, and may be the most underrated.
They have reached the state Semi Final game each year for the past 3 seasons, each ending in a loss to the Highland Park Scots. They entered the 2019 playoffs on the back of a 50 game regular season winning streak. This year, they look to get over the hump and reach their first state final since 2010 when they take on Frisco Lone Star this Saturday.
Since the beginning of the playoffs these Raiders have seemed to be a mission both offensively and on defense. They have combined to beat their opponents by a score of 276-77. In last weeks Quarterfinal running back Emani Bailey, a Louisiana commit totaled 331 yards, 275 of them coming on the ground including 4 touchdowns in a win over Colleyville.
One factor in the game will be the turnover battle as they have thrown 6 interceptions during these playoffs. While Ryan’s defense may be one of the best in the state, the Lone Star offense featuring Oklahoma commit Marvin Mims and star Sophomore Quarterback Garret Rangel, who has 4,518 passing yards and 50 touchdowns this season. Limiting their offensive opportunities will be key.
