THE WOODLANDS, Texas—Two Woodlands High School football players made their college decision final on Wednesday. Defensive Back Ethan Bonner is heading to Stanford University while Wide Receiver Kesean Carter will participate in football and track at Texas Tech University.

On the football field, Bonner and Carter play on opposite sides of the ball but both helped lead the Highlanders to an appearance in the State Championship game against Lake Travis in 2016. Although the outcome wasn’t what they hoped for, the duo captured a state title for the Highlanders in track as they finished 1st in 4×200 meter relay the UIL Track and Field Championships in 2016.

Bonner missed all of the 2017 season due to a knee injury he suffered in 7 on 7 football in the summer. Originally committed to Northwestern, Bonner ultimately decided Stanford was the place for him. The Highlander defensive back grabbed five interceptions in 2016 and with his track background, Bonner will have the speed and athleticism to compete for playing time for the Cardinal.

Staying in the state of Texas, KeSean Carter committed to Texas Tech back in July when he was given the opportunity to run track while also being placed on a football scholarship for the Red Raiders. In addition to his 4×200 meter relay gold, Carter also placed 1st in the 100-meter race at the UIL Championships.

As 2017 comes to an end, the new year will be filled with new challenges for all newly signed student-athletes. Coming from a Texas High School powerhouse in athletics such as The Woodlands High School should help these two as they move on to the next level.
