They are Marshall! The Fort Bend Marshall Buffaloes
There is a team in Missouri City, TX that has become a juggernaut on both sides of the ball this season. They are 6-0, have pitched three consecutive shutouts, and have outscored those three hapless opponents 187-0.
They are the Fort Bend Marshall Buffaloes.
The Buffs are averaging a whopping 58 points per game on offense while playing very stingy defense, allowing a paltry 10 points per game.
High-Octane Offense
The keys to this Ferrari of an offense are held by QB Ja’koby Banks. After six games, Banks has passed for 800 yards, 15 touchdowns, and 2 INTs. He also leads the team in rushing with 448 yards and seven scores. According to 247sports, Banks holds scholarship offers from Marshall, Pitt, and Texas A&M.
In a 68-34 Week one win over Houston Eisenhower, the Buffaloes had three players rush for over 100 yards and scored two rushing touchdowns each: Banks rushed for 183 yards and 2 TDs, Aaron McGowan rushed for 115 yards and 2 TDs, and Jerrod Howard rushed for 105 yards and 2 TDs.
In a 49-7 Week two win over Fort Bend Elkins, Banks passed for 169 yards, 5 touchdowns, and one INT. His main target that night was Rundrick Dudley, who had 116 yards receiving and four touchdowns.
It was more of the same for the Buffaloes in Week 3. Banks passed for 233 yards and 2 touchdowns, and rushed for 2 scores, in a 48-21 win over Galena Park. Jeffrey McWilliams has 112 yards receiving and 1 touchdown.
The next three weeks would be the most dominant of the season. In Week 4, the Buffaloes destroyed Northside 72-0. Banks had 130 yards passing and three touchdowns and added a rushing TD. Four other players scored 1 rushing touchdown each. WR Ke’von Misher had 2 catches for 91 yards and 2 touchdowns.
The following week, a 59-0 rout of Houston Waltrip, Banks passed for 112 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for 114 yards and a score. Four more players each rushed for a touchdown. WR Chris Marshall had three catches for 83 yards and three touchdowns.
Last week, The Buffaloes dropped the hammer on Sharpstown 56-0.
Buffaloes Play Lights Out Defense
And about that stingy defense I mentioned earlier, as a unit they have made:
- 233 tackles in 6 games
- 9 sacks
- 26 tackles for loss
- 2 forced fumbles
- 7 fumble recoveries (4 vs FB Elkins)
- 74 tackles vs Galena Park
- 6 sacks and 12 TFLs vs Northside
The Buffaloes play Austin High (1-4) this week under the lights of Friday night.
