Tigers Crush Eagles 48-0 in District Showdown

Round Rock Hail Roof Inspection

On Friday Night, the Dripping Springs Tigers defended their home turf against the Akins Eagles in District play.

The Tigers started the game off hot and didn’t stop, as quarterback Maddox Maher completed 6 of 10 passes for 70 yards, throwing for 2 touchdowns and rushing for 17 yards.  Maher connected with Cooper Reid and Kyle Koch. Reid caught 2 passes for 22 yards and a touchdown, and Koch had 2 catches for 13 yards and a touchdown. With minimal success in the air, the Tigers relied on the running game. The Tigers called on their running back Jack Tyndall, who ended up with 134 yards on 8 carries, racking up 3 touchdowns.  Another Tigers running back, Jaceton Gotta, rushed for 71 yards on 11 touches, but never found the endzone. The Tigers’ defense made the Akins offense struggle all night, as they didn’t give up a single point, shutting the Eagles out.

Dripping Springs won 48-0.

The Tigers travel next week to face the undefeated Westlake Chaparrals, a showdown for first place in District 26-6A. Westlake is coming off a 67-14 win over Austin Anderson and the Chaparrals have outscored their opponents 287-49 this season.

The Austin Akins Eagles, still in search of their first win, face the Austin High Maroons next. The Maroons are 1-5, with their lone win being over Austin Bowie, and they’re coming off a 19-20 loss to Buda Johnson.
