Trey Wright has put together one of the biggest two-week passing stretches in Texas High School football this season.
The USC pledge followed his school-record seven-touchdown performance against Frisco Liberty by throwing seven more in Frisco Lone Star’s 69-7 win over Frisco Heritage. Wright completed 72% of his passes for 377 yards, then added 154 rushing yards and another touchdown. The junior accounted for eight scores as Lone Star produced a season-high 687 total yards.
One week earlier, Wright threw for 274 yards and seven touchdowns while completing 72.2% of his attempts in a 62-0 victory over Liberty. That performance established a Lone Star single-game record for touchdown passes.
Over the two games, Wright totaled 651 passing yards and 14 passing touchdowns. Meanwhile, the Rangers outscored their opponents 131-7.
The production has not come from Wright alone. Rece Hoyt finished the Heritage game with 137 receiving yards and two touchdowns, helping Lone Star reach its highest yardage total of the season. Wright has now thrown at least three touchdown passes in five consecutive games.
Lone Star is 6-0 overall and 3-0 in District 5-5A Division I after reaching the Class 5A Division I state championship game last season. Wright was central to that run, throwing for 4,062 yards and 43 touchdowns while rushing for 1,801 yards and 16 more scores as a sophomore.
The Rangers continue district play Friday against Frisco Centennial.
