UNT Nabs One Of Dallas’ Best Texas HS Football Quarterbacks
Already, coach Eric Morris promised to keep his roster and staff local. Now, the UNT coach is making good on his promise.
One of Dallas’ most promising prospects is heading to the Mean Green. Trophy Club Byron Nelson quarterback Jake Wilson signed to join the Denton program. In two and a half seasons as a starter, Wilson totaled 8,994 passing yards and 100 touchdowns. In just his senior season, Wilson passed for 4,147 yards, 50 touchdowns, and just four interceptions; he led all Dallas 6A teams in total yards (561), passing yards (342.7), and points per game (49.4). Additionally, he rushed for 393 yards and eight touchdowns.
In his final year with the Bobcats, the team lost only two games, eventually falling to Guyer in the playoffs. Wilson was named District 4-6A Offensive Player of the Year in 2022 for his efforts.
With former Argyle standout Austin Aune declaring for the draft, the Mean Green were in need of depth at the position. Last season, UNT made appearances at the Conference USA championship game and the Frisco Bowl.
