Waller Key Players and Storylines
In Marcus Mendoza’s first three seasons, Waller won just six total games. Last year, everything finally clicked. The Bulldogs rattled off seven wins and snapped a ten-year playoff drought.
Mendoza believes Waller has even more in store in 2026. He said the standard has been established, and his players now actually expect to win instead of just hoping.
Leading that charge is three-star junior quarterback T.K. Gaines (2,016 passing yards, 546 rushing yards, 31 total touchdowns), who proved last year that no moment is too big for him. Receiver Glowin Mbobile (600 receiving yards and seven touchdowns) can open up the offense with his ability to create separation, while 6’5”, 290-pound tackle Elias Hall is as consistent as they come up front. Both players are also Division I prospects.

Defensively, linebacker Trace Geigley (70 tackles) and safety Weston Hubertus are both reliable playmakers in the middle of the field. Both are returning first-team all-district selections. Up front, explosive 6’2”, 250-pound defensive lineman Alexander Thomas will be tasked with controlling the line of scrimmage.
The Bulldogs are on a seemingly meteoric rise from a program that struggled to win more than a couple games each year to one that has legit talent on both sides of the ball. Mendoza said consistency will be the key now. He expects his guys to build on last season as the Bulldogs look to establish themselves as playoff regulars.
