2A Team of the Week: Kerens Bobcats
Kerens and Itasca were on opposite tracks heading into their 7-2A Division I district opener.
The Bobcats were winless on the season, while the Wampus Cats were 4-0. However, the Kerens offense came to play on Friday.
The score was knotted at 21 at the half, but behind three passing touchdowns by quarterback Lane Lynch and an 80-yard touchdown run by Nehemiah Massey, the Bobcats were able to outgun the Wampus Cats in the final 24 minutes for a 48-42 victory.
Lynch finished with 304 yards passing and four touchdowns, while Massey racked up 158 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.
Kerens will now look to add another tally to the win column this Friday when it travels to Axtell for its second district game.
