Week Five 3A Team of the Week: Randolph Ro-Hawks

3A Team of the Week: Randolph Ro-Hawks

The Military Bowl is one of the most special games in all of Texas high school football. Randolph, located on the Randolph Air Force Base, takes on San Antonio Cole, located on Fort Sam Houston. The 2024 edition of this rivalry was an instant classic.

Trailing by six with 25 yards to go on the final play of the game, Randolph had one more moment of magic. Quarterback Collin Stucki found Lee McMooain open in the end zone to tie the game with zeroes on the clock. Finnegan Woodruff then booted through the extra point to secure a wild 28-27 win for Randolph.

“It was a tremendous feeling of accomplishment,” Randolph head coach Elliott Ortiz said. “We didn’t play our best football but we kept working at it and finally made the plays when we needed to.  Definitely an emotional finish to the game and for this game to be against Cole was one our team will remember for a long time.”

Stucki kept Cole’s defense on its toes all night. He threw for 233 yards and two touchdowns and also rushed for 92 yards and another score. McMooian had eight catches for 98 yards and that all-important touchdown.

The Ro-Hawks also had a couple of two-way stars. Wide receiver/defensive back Cody Howard had 118 yards receiving and a touchdown plus an interception on defense. Running back/linebacker Sam Oakland had a rushing score and was another big playmaker for  the Randolph defense with 14 tackles and an interception.

With the win, Randolph completes non-district play at 5-0. The Ro-Hawks will now venture into district play this week with a trip to play Ingram Moore.
