Week Seven 2A Team of the Week: Somerville Yeguas
2A Team of the Week: Somerville Yeguas
Last Friday was a long time in the making for Somerville. According to KBTX, the Yeguas took down Burton for the first time since 2006. Just a year ago, Burton had won that matchup 35-19. It looked like the Panthers were heading towards a similar victory up 35-21 in the third. However, Somerville rallied to force overtime. And then after both teams scored touchdowns, the Yeguas stopped the Panthers on a two-point conversion attempt to seal a wild 42-41 win.
The Yeguas used two quarterbacks on the night, but it didn’t matter who was throwing it. Keith Crawford was catching it. The senior finished with six receptions for 189 yards and two touchdowns.
Ian Teague was a perfect five-for-five throwing the ball for 146 yards and two touchdowns. Sophomore Andrew Espinoza also had 99 passing yards and a score.

On the ground, Teague and Crawford also both had rushing scores for the Yeguas.
Somerville is now tied with Granger as the only 3-0 teams in District 13-2A Division II play. However, that tie will be broken this Friday when the Yeguas host the Lions in a huge district clash.
