Wyatt was already having a historic season heading into this past week. The Chaparrals were 5-0 for the first time since 1984.
But getting to 6-0 wasn’t going to come easy against a Brewer team that was also undefeated in district play.
Fortunately, the Chaparrals have quarterback Keon Steward. He threw for 188 yards and a touchdown while also rushing for 182 yards and four more touchdowns on 25 carries.
Those heroics were enough for the Chaparrals to hold off a late Brewer rally for the 34-28 victory.
Markavion Toombs led the receiving corps with five catches for 136 yards and a touchdown. Defensively, Camarion Harrison and Cleve Richards Jr. both had interceptions, while McTobia Pilot and Jerine Bogan each had forced fumbles.
With the win, this Wyatt team cements itself in the school record books. It is the first 6-0 start in program history.
The Chaparrals will now have a bye week before returning to action on Wednesday Oct. 14 against South Hills.
