Waco Midway at Temple
The Midway Panthers and Temple Wildcats face off in one of the most highly anticipated games in the state this week. Both squads enter this game undefeated and neither will want to come out with a loss. Midway has been explosive on offense, led by Oklahoma commit Tanner Mordecai at quarterback and running back James Fullbright. The Panthers have averaged 451.5 yards of offense per game this season.
Temple has been firing on all cylinders on offense as well this season, lead by quarterback TJ Rumfield. The Wildcats have averaged 538.5 yards of offense and 11 touchdowns this season. The key to whoever wins this game will likely fall on which team’s defense is able to step up and slow down the opposition’s offense.

Cameron Yoe at China Spring
Both of these teams are coming off upset losses at home from Week 2. Cameron Yoe fell to Gatesville and China Spring was beat by Huntsville. These two programs aren’t accustomed to losing games in the regular season and neither will want to drop multiple games in a row.
The Yoemen are averaging 428 yards and 33 points per game so far this season. The Cougars are averaging 432 yards per game and their defense has only allowed 24 points to opponents. The key matchup in this game will be the China Spring defense versus the Yoe offense.

Lorena at Franklin
Lorena is coming into his game with a 0-2 record and the Leopards have been outscored 69-7 in their first two games. Franklin is currently 1-1 and the Lions have been outscored 93-77 in those games. At a glance you might say, this isn’t a matchup Franklin will light up the scoreboard, but remember Lorena has lost to China Spring and La Vega, the two best 4A teams in the area and two of the best in the state.
Franklin hasn’t exactly played a cupcake schedule themselves, the Lions beat Navasota in the season opener and fell to a solid Caldwell team in a shootout last week. The Franklin offense is going to score in this game that’s a given, but the key to the game will be if the Lorena offense can wake up and score on a defense that has allowed 93 points this season.
Last Meeting (2016): Franklin 34, Lorena 21
Waco High at Harker Heights
Both of these teams are off to a great start this season and both are 2-0. Waco High has been flying under the radar around town, with all eyes on Midway, La Vega, and China Spring. Harker Heights currently has the best record of any school in the Killeen area, including Belton and Copperas Cove. The Lions offense is on fire right now averaging 46.5 points per game and doing it the old fashioned way running it down teams throats.
Harker Heights has had to dig deep and show grit to win their games this season, the Knights have won both games by a total of 9 points. The key to this game will be the Harker Heights defense slowing down the Waco High run game.
Last Meeting (2016): Waco High 28, Harker Heights 12
Trinidad at Coolidge
Coolidge is coming off a second half meltdown, where they allowed Calvert to score over 30 points in route to a 74-38 victory. Trinidad had a new sheriff in town, with head coach Chad Satcher and he’s lead the Trojans to a 2-0 record this season.
Trinidad had a close call last week, but came away with a 39-35 victory over Johnson County Sports Association. The key in this game will be which teams defense can force the most three-and-outs.
