Westbrook Advance to Semifinals With 32-16 Win

Round Rock Hail Roof Inspection

On Friday in Lubbock, the Westbrook Wildcats faced off against the hungry Happy Cowboys in the 6-man semifinals.

The game started well for the Wildcats. Grayson Jeffrey rushed for 90 yards on 17 touches for the night and scored first for the Wildcats. Keegan Gilbreath also shone, rushing for 101 yards on 18 touches. Despite the Wildcats’ good start, the Cowboys came back. Gilbreath scored for the Wildcats in the second quarter, tying the game at 16 as both teams headed into halftime.

In the second half, the Wildcat defense recovered a backward pass and returned it for a touchdown, taking the lead and energizing the Wildcats. The Cowboys had a promising drive, but the Wildcat defense stripped the ball at their 30-yard line. The fumble recovery, returned to the 42-yard line, gave the Wildcats momentum for another score. Grayson Jeffrey sealed the deal, helping the Wildcats return to Arlington to defend their state title.

Westbrook won 32-16.

On Dec. 13, the Wildcats will take on Gordon, who is undefeated and coming off a demanding 54-8 win over Jonesboro.
