The Westfield High School community is mourning the death of a 15-year-old student following a shooting near the campus Tuesday afternoon.
The shooting occurred shortly after school dismissal on September 22 near Westfield High School and the Spring ISD administration building on Ella Boulevard. The student was transported to a hospital, where he later died.
In the hours following the shooting, Spring ISD canceled all after-school activities, meetings and athletic events across the district Tuesday. The decision came as law enforcement searched the area and the district began providing support for students, staff and families.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the shooting. Authorities said the person believed responsible left the area on foot, and no arrest had been announced as of Wednesday morning.
Westfield Community Receives Additional Support
Spring ISD announced that counselors and other support resources would be available at Westfield High School and throughout the district.
Families will also see an increased presence from Spring ISD Police and Harris County law enforcement in the coming days.
The district expressed its condolences to the student’s family, friends, classmates, teachers and staff while asking the community to respect the family’s privacy as they grieve.
