Coach John Carter Balances Two Sports and Big Expectations at Round Rock

Coach John Carter wears two hats at Round Rock High School — assistant football coach and head baseball coach — and he embraces both roles with energy and passion. As the Dragons gear up for the 2025 football season, Carter is focused on the development of the offensive line and the foundation being built in the offseason.

“We have a lot of returners and we’ve had a great summer in the weight room,” Carter said. “The guys are focused and excited. That’s what you want going into the season.”

While Carter is key to the success of the football program, he also leads Round Rock’s baseball team. Juggling responsibilities across two major sports programs requires balance, but it’s a challenge he’s proud to take on.

“Working with athletes year-round, helping them grow on the field and as young men — that’s the rewarding part,” Carter added. “Whether it’s fall under the lights or spring on the diamond, we’re building something strong here.”
