Allen Key Players and Storylines
Allen has been looking like the Allen Eagles of old the past two seasons. The Eagles have now rattled off back-to-back undefeated district titles, and last year, they made it back to the state semifinals for the first time since 2018.
Only seven starters return from that team, but there’s never a shortage of talent in the pipeline at the largest public school in the nation.
Offensively, sophomore Ty Snell will get the nod at quarterback after throwing for 1,030 yards as a backup last season. The skill positions will be one of Allen’s strengths this year with playmaking receiver Josyah Johnson (770 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns), 6’4”, 225-pound tight end Jaden Davis, and explosive running back Lyndon Spriggs (899 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns). If that wasn’t enough, the Eagles also added dynamic sophomore Zach Williams (1,421 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns) from Bishop Lynch. Up front, center Jayin Talib is a returning first team all-district selection, while 6’3”, 300-pound junior Alexander Tinsman is poised for a big jump this fall.

Defensively, the secondary is in great shape with safety Trey Roberson (42 tackles), a returning two-year starter, and cornerback Dominic Butler, who burst onto the scene as the district’s Defensive Newcomer of the Year in 2025.
In front of them, the Eagles will lean on the experience of physical linebacker Hova Wilford (58 tackles, five TFLs) and quick edge rusher Beckham Parker (26 tackles, nine TFLs) as the two returning starters in the front seven. Sophomore linebacker Raiden Johnson is ready to blow up this season as another player with a future on Saturdays.
The Eagles may have lost a lot due to graduation, but they’re in a position to not skip a beat with the talent that runs through their sophomore class. A district title will be goal number one as the Eagles set their sights on more December football in 2026.
