North Shore doesn’t lose district games. The Mustangs had lost just one since the start of the 2018 season. They also don’t lose to C.E. King. They had never done that in school history.
The Panthers were out to re-write some history last Friday. They would do so off the back of quarterback KhylanDavis.
He threw for 146 yards and two scores and added another 91 yards and three touchdowns on the ground as the Panthers sent shockwaves across the state with a 42-21 victory.
“Our kids came to play and understood that it was going to take a full team effort in order to get it done,” C.E. King head coach Cory Laxen said. “It is big for our program because it shows us that we can play with the best in Texas. It was a great victory in which we will use as a momentum builder as we prepare for the playoffs.”

Braylon Lane led the Panther receiving corps with five catches for 49 yards. Antwon Sanders and A’rhyian Montgomery each caught touchdowns, while Tyrin Gatson had C.E. King’s other rushing touchdown.
Defensively, linebacker Ricardo Rampersad led the Panthers with eight tackles. Fellow linebacker Cameron Sydnor and defensive back Chris Albright both had forced fumbles.
C.E. King improves to 7-1 on the season with the win and remains a perfect 5-0 in District 17-6A. However, there’s no time to rest with another big district game coming up this Thursday against Summer Creek.
