Plano Key Players and Storylines

Third time is the charm, and that was certainly the case for Cody White and Plano last season. In White’s third year at the helm, the Wildcats made it back to the playoffs for the first time since 2022. Their six wins were also Plano’s most in a season since 2017.

Ten starters are back from that team, including a number of weapons offensively. Quarterback CJ Smith (767 passing yards and six touchdowns) has the keys to the offense again after gaining experience as a sophomore last season. At the skill positions, running back Kameryn Brown (464 rushing yards and two touchdowns) is not just physical but shifty as well, while junior receiver Kaedyn Brown (326 receiving yards and five touchdowns) is a dynamic player who can also play some running back.

Up front, 6’4”, 287-pound tackle Greg Hurtado and 6’3”, 265-pound guard Judson Lookenbill are two physical returners on the offensive line.

Defensively, senior linebackers Stephen Brown (18 tackles, five TFLs) and Nolan Chapel (79 tackles) will lead the heart of the Plano defense. The Wildcats are also in good shape on the perimeter with returning all-district corner Nuri Simms (30 tackles) and ballhawk cornerback junior Reggie Berry (18 tackles, one INT).

This year, Plano has some new district opponents with the Richardson schools moving into District 7-6A. With another year of experience under White and a group of promising sophomores coming up to varsity, the Wildcats have high hopes for earning back-to-back playoff berths for the first time since 2013-14.
