Plano West Wolves 2026 Season Preview
Plano West Wolves
Head Coach: Tyler Soukup (8th season; 20-51 record)
Last Season: 6-4; 4-4 in district
Returning Lettermen: 19 (5 returning starters on offense; 5 on defense)
Plano West Key Players and Storylines
A year ago, four points were all that stood between Plano West and its first playoff appearance since 2020. A 28-24 loss to McKinney left the Wolves in fifth in the final district standings.
Ten starters return from that team this fall, and they are determined to finish one spot better.
The offense will lean on the experience of three-year letterman quarterback Blake Tevis and the raw talent of junior receiver DeAndre Prince, who Soukup believes is due for a breakout season. When Tevis does drop back to pass, he’ll have a mountain of a tackle in front of him in 6’6” 295-pound senior Aidan Ray.

Defensively, the Wolves have some holes to fill on the defensive line. The linebacking corps is in much better shape with standout Trey Martin (52 tackles, 11 TFLs) and hard-hitter Sam Lax. On the back end, safety Dean Walker enters 2026 with a chip on his shoulder after missing the back half of last season due to injury.
After Plano West won just four total games from 2022-24, it appears that this group has turned a corner. Soukup believes they have just as much talent as they did a year ago, talent that should give them a shot to push for that final playoff spot.
