Grand Prairie Key Players and Storylines
A 2-8 record isn’t normally something to be celebrated, but for Grand Prairie, it’s a foundation to build on. In the three years prior to 2025, the Gophers had won just one game each season.
Now, they’ve had a full offseason under Kenchee Ross. He’s expecting another step forward with the Gophers having a year of experience in his staff’s systems under their belts.
Offensively, the Gophers will keep defenses on their toes with dual threat quarterback Jor’dayn Brown (404 passing yards and four touchdowns) at the helm. He has six starts under his belt from a year ago. Alongside him, Ross believes running back Ayden Rice (179 rushing yards) is ready for a breakout season after serving as second fiddle in 2025. He’ll have one of the district’s top lineman to run behind in the trenches in 6’5″, 338-pound guard/tackle Lueranze Miller, a four-year starter who will be playing on Saturdays a year from now.
College Coaches: Meet Lueranze Miller a big versatile offensive linemen that can play anywhere on the line including center. Strong, aggressive, and a people mover type of linemen you need at your program thats a tone setter. Come check him out at Gopher Land we got kids!! pic.twitter.com/QXTZsQGygP

Defensively, the Gophers have talent and returning starters at all three levels. Linebacker Oliver Murillo (75 tackles, six TFLs) is Grand Prairie’s unquestioned leader in the middle of the field, while defensive end Kenneth Goodwyn is the Gophers’ returning sack leader. On the perimeter, cornerback Kenyon Jeffries doesn’t shy away from physicality and will likely face some of the top receivers in the district.
Now, the issue for the Gophers is seven of their eight losses came by 35 points or more. Being competitive for all four quarters is goal number one for this program, a goal Ross expects this team to take a step towards this fall after a strong offseason.
