4A Team of the Week: Lindale Eagles
The FM-16 rivalry never disappoints. Heading into Friday, the previous six meetings had all been one score games.
Make that seven.
Van jumped out to a 13-0 lead, but the teams traded blows throughout the night. With under a minute to go, it was Van in front 46-42.
Lindale quarterback David Lindig had one last trick up his sleeve. With nothing open downfield, he found some room down the sideline and turned it up for what would be the game-winning 32-yard touchdown run in a 49-46 Lindale victory.
“It was an incredible win for us! I am so proud of the way our guys battled and stuck together, even when it didn’t look good for us,” Lindale head coach Chris Cochran said. “There was a ton of belief in the locker room at halftime and on the sideline throughout the fourth quarter. That was a really good opponent for us. That game always helps us as we prepare to go into district play.”
Lindig’s quarterback play will also give the Eagles a ton of confidence. He threw for 292 yards and four touchdowns and also had 45 yards and that game-winning rushing score on the ground. JB Reed (five catches for 107 yards and two touchdowns) and Reed Camathan (four catches for 112 yards and two touchdowns) finished as Lindig’s top targets.

Defensively, Lincoln Laing led the Eagles with 17 tackles. Safety Ethan Bowman was also busy with 12 tackles and an interception.
Lindale is now 3-0 and remains the number two team in 4A Division I. Next up, they’ll face another East Texas foe as they welcome in Tyler Chapel Hill this Friday.
