Kempner vs. Ridge Point
The Buffalos come into this game this week after an emotional overtime win over Klein at home. Before their brutal test they were cruising, winning the previous two games 34-21 and 41-6. This week I’d expect them to remain perfect with their explosive offense leading the way.

Denton Ryan vs. Frisco Lone Star
While Denton Ryan has had to play their first three games all on the road, and finding themselves still undefeated, the Rangers impose a multi-weapon offense that has been running up the score. On top of an offense that’s scored 60-plus points in two of their three games, they’ve shutdown their opponents to only 14 twice.

George Ranch vs. The Woodlands
It’s hard to root against at top ten team in the state. And, a team that has allowed just 10 points per game over their first three. That’s why this week, on the road for the first time since their opener in August, the Highlanders won’t even be tested by George Ranch.

Canadian vs. Stratford
As much as I love rooting for any team with the word “Canadian” (I.E. go team Canada in the World Cup of Hockey) I cannot get behind a squad that’s coming into a game losing at home to Perryton, 24-14. To go with that disappointing result, Stratford has just been too good on defense to go against. A whopping 16 points surrendered in two games is amazing. I’d expect them to keep with the suffocating act this week.

Oklahoma vs. Ohio State
THE Ohio State University is a National Title favorite and this will be their first real test for JT Barret and the Buckeyes. As we’ve seen in the past, Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield tends to struggle in these big games. He’s played poorly when the spotlight is on against Texas. He didn’t show up in the playoff game against Clemson. And, he was non-existant against Houston to open the season.

Texas A&M vs. Auburn
Auburn is a nice underdog coming into this game. They played Clemson very tough to open the season. And, they are one of the better teams in the SEC West. However, the Aggies are primed to not only take a run at dethroning the Crimson Tide at the top of the division; but they have a serious chance at winning the conference as a whole. Trevor Knight, the former Oklahoma quarterback, has shined in big games in the past. So, I’d expect him to continue to thrive under the pressure this week.

It would be hard to bet against a Ridge Point defense that’s only given up ten points thus far this season. Oh, and their last two games have been shutouts.

Denton Ryan vs. Frisco Lone Star
No. 3 vs No. 6, what can get better? I have to trust my gut instinct on this one and go with Denton Ryan. Although, Lone Star quarterback and Utah commit Jason Shelley may have something to say about it.

The Woodlands are fresh off a 26-3 drubbing of the defending state champs. I expect them to keep things rolling.

Canadian vs. Stratford
Got to love a rivalry game. This one can go either way but I’m going with Canadian. At 1-2, their backs are against the wall, and I think they’ll come out swinging.

Oklahoma vs. Ohio State
Baker Mayfield and J.T. Barrett. The Big 12 and the Big 10. Urban Meyer and Bob Stoops. Need I say more? This is a must watch. I think Ohio State holds a slight edge. It’s just too hard to bet against Urban Meyer.

Texas A&M vs. Auburn
This is an interesting one. Auburn loses in week one to Clemson. Meanwhile, the Aggies pull off a victory against UCLA. Week two they both win by blowouts. It’s anyone’s game here in week three but I think the Tigers take care of business at home.

Kempner vs. Ridge Point
B.J. Rainford is off to another great start for Ridge Point after nearly 2,000 yards last season. Kempner is looking to keep momentum rolling after starting the season 3-0. I think the Ridge Point defense will be solid again as they’ve given up 10(!) points in three games, including back- to-back shutouts. (Shoutout to Garrett Caywood for that stat).

Frisco Lone Star at Denton Ryan
Pick your favorite dynamic quarterback-receiver combination: Lone Star’s Jason Shelley and Jaylen Dixon vs. Denton Ryan’s Spencer Sanders and Gabriel Dougals. Those will be fun to watch. But Ryan has a very solid run game to balance things out, and that will be the difference in a very entertaining football game.

The Woodlands at Richmond George Ranch
If I lived in the Houston area, this would definitely be the game I would go see. The Highlanders used their stout defense to beat Katy last week and will try to avoid a letdown against the defending 5A Division 1 champions. It will be a tight game, but I think the Woodlands will shut down the Longhorns.

Canadian at Stratford
Two of the best teams in the Panhandle face off in this one, even though they’re no longer in the same class. Canadian beat the Stratford Elks twice last year, but the Elks are anxious to knock off their old rival. I expect a close game, but I’ll pick the home team to come out on top.

Ohio State at Oklahoma
Oklahoma will be hungry to redeem themselves after losing the opener to Houston. The young Buckeyes will have their first big test in a hostile environment. I think the poise and leadership of J.T. Barrett plus a stingy defense will be enough for Ohio State to come out of Norman with a close win.

This is a pivotal game for both squads as they start SEC play. Auburn is the favorite at home, but I think this will be a breakout game for the Aggies offense and Trevor Knight. Also, good luck trying to block Myles Garrett.

Denton Ryan vs Frisco Lone Star
A battle of the unbeaten pits two great quarterbacks against one another in Denton Ryan’s Spencer Sanders and Lone Star’s Jason Shelley. Last week Lone Star beat Lovejoy 62-31 with Shelley accounting for five of those touchdowns. I expect Lone Star to keep on rolling come this game.

So following The Woodlands 26-3 victory over Katy, can I really go against them? George Ranch recently had their 17-game win streak broken up and against The Woodlands I do not see them starting another one.

Stratford has two impressive linemen in Parker Hanna and Russell Spurlock. Both are listed at 6-6 and over 200lbs. Stratford will be on the road in this one but with two consecutive losses to Canadian. Stratford pulls one out with the help of their tall lines.

This one is a toss-up. I do feel that to start the season of with two road wins and pitching a shutout in your first home game will provide much momentum into the next game. With it being a bye week I find Ridge Point benefitting from it more.

OU vs Ohio State
After the debacle against Houston (which is a phenomenal team) can you expect a different result from OU against a talented Ohio State program? OU has been consistent in one aspect the past couple of years and that’s losing big games. If that offends you well I guess you can throw it in my face if they win. But the Buckeyes have this one.

A&M is off to a 2-0 start. Auburn of course will give A&M a run for its money, but I like the A&M backfield with Keith Ford and Trayveon Williams. The four conference matchups these teams have had have gone in favor of the visiting team. Expect A&M to continue that trend.
