The Tennessee Titans and Jacksonville Jaguars go head-to-head in this week’s Thursday Night Football game. So just who exactly from the Music City Men have their playing roots embedded in Texas?
A former Texas Tech Red Raider in college, Amaro spent his high school playing days at San Antonio MacArthur High School. The former four-star prospect was named a USA Today First-Team All-America member and listed in the Dave Campbell Top 300 as a top five tight end.
His senior season saw him haul in 56 receptions for 887 yards and 11 touchdowns on his way to an Honorable Mention All-State selection. He was also named a First-Team All-Area and District 26-5A First-Team member. Amaro was also an excellent basketball player that helped MacArthur reach the state quarterfinals.
Originally born in Jacksonville Florida, Blake would find himself playing on the Texas gridiron at Thurgood Marshall High School in Missouri City. A two-year starter that garnered All-District 23-5A Honors and named the team captain, Blake posted 53 tackles, four interceptions and two fumble recoveries.
He contributed his junior as well by accumulating 48 tackles and two interceptions on his way to an All-District Honorable Mention. Blake was also a member of the track and field team and competed in the 100, 200 and 400 meter races.
Another corner from Texas is Perrish Cox where he played at Waco University High School. Posting nine interceptions and 27 tackles as a senior helped him to play in the 2006 U.S. Army All-American Bowl.
The three-time Pro Bowler and former Texas Longhorn made his name known as early as a member of the Lamar High School team. Orakpo was a two-time First-Team All-District member as defensive end and also played tight end as well. In his senior year despite missing a third of the season he posted 36 tackles, 12 for loss and nine sacks. Orakpo also played basketball his freshman-junior years.
A product of Baylor and Pittsburg High School, Wright was an exceptional three-sport athlete earning All-State Honors in football, basketball and track. A recurring name in major metropolitan top recruits lists as a receiver, Wright also garnered recognition as a cornerback. A 2007 Class 3A Second-Team All-State corner, he also earned Second-Team All-District Honors as a corner and quarterback in 2006 and 2007.
Wright passed for 1,170 yards and nine touchdowns while rushing for 1069 yards and 15 touchdowns. As a corner in the same year he had 33 tackles, five interceptions, four fumble recoveries and two defensive touchdowns.
