Black-Tree-3Jarrett Stidham is on the verge of making one of the most important decisions of his football career: where does the talented quarterback play next season? The former Stephenville High School graduate recently transferred from the Baylor Bears program; after head coach Art Briles was fired from the university.

Stidham sent a Tweet from his account about his decision to leave the team saying,

Now the former Bears quarterback is looking for a new home when the 2017 season beings. He’s been shown a lot of interest from a number of schools that would be happy to have his skill set lead their offense. However, he isn’t holding an open court like if he was a high school senior.

Some of the top SEC programs like, Auburn, Texas A&M, and LSU have paid him a visit. And, he’s heard from schools that are looking to rebuild their team like, Oregon, Texas Tech; and to a lesser extent due to their success this season, USC.

“I haven’t really talked to very many people. I’ve had my eye set on a few [schools], and that’s pretty much has been it,” he said. “It’s been pretty low-key, which has been nice. I haven’t tweeted out much about anything, and I’ve dealt with very few reporters. I’m not trying to really set it off like that.” – Bleacher Report

It looks like the Aggies have the upper-hand at landing the former prized high school recruit as Stidham was reported to be in College Station over the weekend when Texas A&M took on Ole Miss.

“In fact, not only did Stidham speak to Kevin Sumlin last week for close to an hour, but as many know by now, he was in College Station on Saturday for the second time this season,” Hamm said. “After the game, Stidham met the entire Mazzone family, including Taylor Mazzone and Mrs. Mazzone. He’s also been in steady contact with (offensive coordinator) Noel Mazzone since mid-September.” – SEC Country

With Texas A&M losing Trevor Knight after this season, it opens up a void in their offense that could enable Stidham an opportunity to start from day-one. This is something that Auburn could potentially not offer to him as the Tigers current starter, Sean White, is only in his second year at the school. While White hasn’t been putting up elite level statistics, he has improved from his 2015 season, and has led the Tigers to a 7-3 record.

Wherever the former Stephenville quarterback goes it will be met with a ton of fanfare. He’s going to be looked at as someone who will be able to flip a team to the top of its conference. And, he’ll be expected to lead a team on a College Football Playoff run.
