With LSU running back Leonard Fournette and Stanford running back Christian McCaffrey both announcing in recent days that they would be skipping their team’s bowl games, some have speculated that projected high draft picks would also be more inclined to sit out their bowl games as well.

As it turns out, however, Texas A&M defensive end Myles Garrett is not one of those people. On Monday, Garrett released a statement throught the school saying he will be playing in the Texas Bowl against Kansas State on December 28.

The junior from Arlington has established himself as one of the premier players in the country. Like Fournette and McCaffrey, he’s also had to battle injuries this year. Despite that, Garrett has 32 tackles, 15 tackles for loss and 8.5 sacks this year.

Garrett is projected as the No.1 overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft. The 0-14 Cleveland Browns have ‘an astronomical grade’ on Garrett, according to Adam Schefter, and are currently slotted into that top pick. Garrett has not officially declared for the draft, but he is expected to do so soon.
