It appears that Tom Herman has found his guy to run the Texas offense in 2017. According to Chip Brown of Horns Digest, Tim Beck will be leaving Ohio State to join Herman’s staff in Austin and become the Longhorns’ new offensive coordinator.
Beck was the co-offensive coordinator with Ed Warriner during his two seasons in Columbus. Previously, he was an offensive assistant at Nebraska. Under his direction, Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett won the Chicago Tribune Silver Football in 2016.
Beck’s hire gives the Longhorns staff another former Texas high school coach. Beck was the head coach at Carrollton Turner from 1999-2001 and Mansfield Summit from 2002-2004.
Per 247 Sports, Beck also played a key role in the recruitment of five-star prospects Baron Browning of Kennedale and Jeffrey Okudah of South Grand Prairie. Neither school has confirmed the latest coaching move.
