Oklahoma’s Samaje Perine Heading To The NFL

Oklahoma’s newly minted all-time leading rusher is going to keep on running to the NFL. Oklahoma running back Samaje Perine announced that he would forgo his senior season and enter the 2017 NFL Draft. Perine made the announcement on social media this morning.

In his three seasons at Oklahoma, Perine rushed for 4,122 yards, breaking the school’s all-time rushing record previously held by Heisman Trophy winner Billy Sims. Perine broke the record in the fourth quarter of Monday night’s Sugar Bowl win over Auburn.

The former Pflugerville Hendrickson runner already had the single-game rushing record, running for 427 yards his freshman year against Kansas in 2014. Fellow running back Joe Mixon has not announced whether he will be heading to the NFL like Perine. Regardless, Oklahoma will have a big task replacing their new all-time leading rusher.
