In the wake of the U.S Army All-American game, Cibolo Steele’s C.J. Williams committed his future to Navy.
The senior wideout, who finishes his career as the all-time reception leader at CSHS, will take his talents to Annapolis to join Ken Niumatalolo and talented Sophomore QB Zach Abey. The Midshipmen are coming off a 9 win season and an appearance in the Armed Forces Bowl. Despite losing to Army for the first time since 2001, Navy looked poised to be a contender in the American Athletic Conference with Williams hoping to contribute.
Williams, who’s father was in the Army, thought the Naval Academy was a great decision for his family and his future.
“Going over everything with my parents and praying about it, I just knew it was the best thing I could do for my future.”
The Steele standout, who helped lead the Knights to the 6A Division I State Championship Game last month, starred in the San Antonio Sports AllStar Game, where he opened the game’s scoring with a 24-yard reception in the back corner of the end zone. He also made key contribution on the kick returning end, with key returns on the way to helping the East to a 29-0 win.
“To get to come out here with this group of boys…it was a great opportunity,” Williams said.
With an exciting recruiting class, Navy and Williams have a bright future ahead, one in which Williams is excited for.
“It’s very exciting,” Williams said. “To know where I’m going to college, to know where I’m furthering my education…it’s just great.”
