When the word Seminole comes to mind, football fans more often think of Florida State and the powerhouse program in Tallahassee. While Seminole, Texas may not contain a perennial NCAA Division I team, they all may have the next big thing in Class of 2018 prospect Reese Moore, who could find himself signing for one of many FBS teams like Florida State come next season.
Coming in at 6-6 and 250 pounds, college coaches find it hard to miss this offensive presence when taking in an Indians game. Although many believe Moore is underrated at his 3-star ranking, the offers that the rising senior is receiving justify the hype. In just the past week, Moore has been offered from the likes of Virginia, Baylor, Texas Tech, OU, TCU, and most recently, the University of Texas.
The primetime performer has all but led the Indians, who were previously 1-9 to new heights, turning Seminole into a playoff contender as early as this year. They eventually lost to the eventual state-runner up Sweetwater Mustangs after advancing to the state quarterfinal round.
Watching highlights gives any recruiter all they need to see. Strength, athleticism, and versatility are all shining attributes of the #83 overall Texas Prospect. Moore has drawn comparisons to the likes of Rob Gronkowski by being able to be spread out wide, but also just as effective off the line. The Indians also provided packages for Moore to run from the backfield, where he gained substantial yards on a regular basis. The most important asset, however, is Moore’s blocking ability, manhandling most defensive linemen that have given the likes of Tom Herman and Bob Stoops all they need to know about bring Moore into their respective programs.
The Indians tight end also plays basketball, which just adds to the impressive dexterity and athleticism this rising star has. It is easy to see why he is so coveted amongst not only the schools in Texas, but now with pending offers from around the nation.
Despite the level of competition at Seminole, the transition to the college game will not phase Moore and wherever he chooses to go, an immediate impact is sure to be made. It’ll be interesting to see where Moore chooses to play in the coming months, but if the trend continues, many around the nation might start referring to Seminole the city, rather than the mascot thanks to Moore.
