A former head coach in Southeast Texas is taking the leap back into the high school head coaching ranks. Former Hamshire-Fannett head coach Kane Harris has been hired to be the next head coach at Rocksprings (2A). The move was first reported by Matt Stepp.

Harris replaces Brandon Allen, who left the school after two seasons to become an assistant coach at Lumberton.

He did not have a head coaching position in 2016 after leading the way at Hamshire-Fannett for four seasons. He compiled an 18-24 record in four years and took the Longhorns to the postseason in 2015. He resigned after the 2015 season. Prior to that, Harris was an assistant coach at Midland Lee.

Harris now takes over a Rocksprings program that has made the playoffs seven of the last eight years. The Angoras finished 7-4 in 2016.
