Gavin Escobar Signs With The Kansas City Chiefs

On the heels of Jason Witten receiving a contract extension earlier this week, the Dallas Cowboys will be searching for a new back-up tight end. On Friday, the Kansas City Chiefs signed Gavin Escobar to a one-year deal. The terms were reported by Adam Caplan and the team announced the signing as well.

Escobar was a second round draft pick back in 2013. In his four seasons with Dallas, Escobar finished with 30 total catches and had a hard time breaking through on the field thanks to Witten’s play as well as dealing with his injuries.

He now heads to Kansas City to play alongside one of the best young tight ends in the NFL in Travis Kelce. But with Kelce sidelined due to shoulder surgery until training camp and questions about backup Demetrius Harris’ status with the team following his arrest, Escobar could see more opportunities come his way that he didn’t have in Dallas.
