Former Texas A&M Aggie and current Seattle Seahawks defensive tackle Michael Bennett has never been afraid to speak his mind. Now, it looks like he won’t be speaking to The Seattle Times anytime soon after a column was published with the headline “Seahawks’ Michael Bennett does great things, but why the immaturity?” on Sunday.
The column, written by Matt Calkins, was mostly positive as Calkins wrote about Bennett’s personality, his quotes, passion on the field as well as his charity work off the field. The end of the column did offer a sort of critique on his behavior, citing his action at the end of the game against the Atlanta Falcons last year as well as his latest argument with Stephen A. Smith.
After the column was posted, Bennett came out criticizing the column on Twitter.
I will never talk to seattle times the rest of my career n will encourage my teammates to do the same

As for Calkins, he responded shortly after Bennett made his feelings known.
I'm sorry you feel this way. I actually have a lot of respect for you. https://t.co/utq4xnx3YU

This isn’t the first time that a Seahawks player has called out a member of the media. Richard Sherman got into an argument with another reporter at a press conference and threatened to end his career. Sherman did apologize for what happened.
Conflicts between media and players do happen, but it will be interesting to see what happens with this situation.
