The Katy Tigers are 100% the correct pick here. The Tigers have absolutely romped in district play recently, even when they’ve had a down year by their standards. With big playmakers like Deondrick Glass coming back, I see no reason for the Tigers not to win the whole thing again, even if it isn’t as easy as they’re used to. We can’t count out Katy Taylor and Cinco Ranch in these equations, but I still think Katy comes out on top.

The good news for Texas high school football fanatics that District 19-6A is tremendously stacked and going to be extremely interesting to follow in 2017. The bad news for the members of District 19-6A is that all roads lead to powerhouse Katy, which ripped off a 7-0 record in district play last season.
Once again, Katy Taylor and Katy Cinco Ranch, which collectively compiled a 20-7 record in 2016, will be formidable in 2017. Katy is still Katy, though, and with more than enough key piece still in place, including elite running back Deondrick Glass and a stout defense, it’s difficult to imagine anyone dethroning the district powerhouse next season.

47 points. That was the average margin of victory for Katy in district play in 2016. Simply put, the Tigers dominated District 19-6A after a surprising 1-2 start to the regular season. They took care of business when it mattered and I don’t see any sign of that momentum slowing down.
Katy Taylor and Cinco Ranch will likely be their toughest competition again, but the running back duo of Deondrick Glass and Josh Oglesby combined with a stout defense should help propel the Tigers to another district title.

Imagine the heads of Cerberus brawling with one another in order to establish the Alpha of the three. That’s what you will get this upcoming season when Katy, Katy Taylor and Cinco Ranch all attempt to establish their territory this upcoming season in the 19-6A district.
Katy Taylor (9-3) really only had one blemish on the season and that was losing to Katy in their first district game. Running back Ean Beek will do much of the heavy lifting again after rushing for over 2,000 yards and 20 touchdowns and defensively, linebacker Ben Montgomery and defensive tackle Max Wright will command much of the attention.
Cinco Ranch (11-4) had an amazing run last season before meeting Cibolo Steele in the state semifinals. A 3-3 start was about as misleading as it could get with Cinco Ranch after they begin to pummel the opposition and peak at that right time. Cinco Ranch did however falter to both Katy Taylor and Katy but like their rival Katy Taylor, they return a heavy hitter in running back Brant Kuithe. Kuithe ran for over 1,800 yards and 24 touchdowns and also have some defensive firepower.
And then there is Katy (10-3), the perennial powerhouse contender that can nearly always be found vying for a state title. Katy also has a running back who you may have heard of named Deondrick Glass and have one of the best defensive fronts in the state led by Michael Matus, Moro Ojomo and Gavin Spangler. Katy like Cinco Ranch had a rocky start but began to look like the Katy of old after a 1-2 start.
As talented and competitive as this district is, there is no denying that Katy has and will continue to be the Alpha. In a game that constantly changes, one thing remains certain and that is that Katy will find a way to win.
