First Preseason Associated Press Polls Released; Traditional Powers Remain On Top

The first state rankings from the Associated Press were released on Monday and there are several familiar names on top of the rankings. Here’s are the full polls starting from Class 6A to Class 2A. First-place votes are in parentheses, with points based on 10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1.

Class 6A

Summary: The Manvel Mavericks and Aledo Bearcats enter as favorites to win state titles in 2017, but there are a number of teams that show promise this season. Can Fort Bend Marshall or College Station break through after deep playoff runs or could a team from outside the Top 10 such as Lubbock Coronado crash the party?
