Texas Tech’s 2019 class is no longer a one-man show, as the Red Raiders picked up a pledge from Whitehouse wide receiver Cameron Cantrell on Monday.
Excited and blessed to be able to say that I am committed😈‼️ pic.twitter.com/TK3iqvYjpA

“It’s definitely special,” Cantrell told WreckEm247 of Texas Tech. “I’ve been around it for a long time. Coach Kingsbury and coach Morris actually ate dinner at my house when they were recruiting Dylan, so I’ve known them for a while now. I like the facilities, the school is great, Dylan loves everything about it up there and so do I. It’s just a special school.”
The Dylan that Cantrell is referring to is his older brother and a senior wide receiver at Texas Tech, and although Cantrell said he made his own decision, the junior did admit to WreckEm247 that following in his brothers footsteps was a surreal opportunity.
“Definitely,” Cantrell said. “It’s definitely a surreal moment. It’s a huge decision, but I’m for sure making the right decision. Following in Dylan’s footsteps, it’s a big deal to me and it’s a big deal to Dylan for sure.”
An East Texas product, Cantrell’s Texas Tech offer served as his only following a sophomore season in which he hauled in 32 receptions for 369 yards and one score, but it proved to be the only offer he needed. His commitment gives Texas Tech its second 2019 pledge, as he joins four-star South Oak Cliff weak-side defensive end Steven Parker.
Texas Tech’s 2019 class now ranks No. 25 nationally and No. 3 in the Big 12, per 247Sports Composite.
