An MRI on Saturday revealed that All-State running back for the Aledo Bearcats, Jase McClellan, has suffered a fractured wrist and will miss 4-6 weeks. The injury was first reported by Greg Riddle of The Dallas Morning News.

McClellan left early in the third quarter during Aledo’s 38-21 win over Colleyville Heritage with wrist pain. He later was on the sideline with ice on his arm and his arm in a sling. He finished with 136 yards rushing and two touchdowns in Aledo’s season opener.

McClellan, the 2016 5A Division II State Championship MVP, recently committed to play football at the University of Oklahoma. The sophomore standout plays a huge role in the Aledo offense that in the meantime will be filled by junior running back Tre Owens, who ran for 71 yards and two touchdowns on Friday night.

The Bearcats are preparing to play Aguilas Blancas IPN out of Mexico City on Friday in Aledo. Over the duration of McClellan’s injury, Aledo also will face Mansfield Legacy, and open district play against Saginaw Chisholm Trail, Saginaw High, and Azle. If all goes well, the Bearcats can hope to have McClellan back before their game at Saginaw High on October 6.
