A week after Hurricane Harvey delayed UTSA’s home opener against Houston, officials from both schools agreed on Wednesday that the game will not be made up this season.

During recovery from the catastrophic storm, administrators will work together to reschedule the game for a future year. The meeting was part of a four-game series that will have two home games for each program. The Roadrunners and Cougars are next scheduled to face off Sept. 2022 in Houston; they are notched at an even 1-1 in head-to-head competition.
“We appreciate the support and understanding of our fans, and their concern for those who have been impacted by Harvey,” Associate Vice President/Director of Athletics Lynn Hickey said in a statement. “We encourage everyone to consider using their ticket refund to make a donation to hurricane relief and recovery efforts. The devastation in South Central and Southeast Texas is beyond imagination, and as the Roadrunner Family we can make a real difference at this critical time.”
UTSA will officially open its seventh season and second under head coach Frank Wilson on Saturday, Sept. 9, against Baylor in Waco. Houston will voyage to Tuscon and take on Arizona for coach Major Applewhite’s inaugural game as the Cougars head coach.
